Its why I use AutoCAD and its why now I want to start learning 3D. You get your chance to step up and deliver. Now you still have to deliver what you are showing, but you get the customer's attention no matter how small of a company you are. Now he never could deliver what his presentation showed. He had the attention of everyone in that room.even me. He had hired a guy to make him this presentation for him. He stayed to sign contracts.I drove home. I kept waiting to see Mickey or Goofy stick their heads out of the wheel house. But it was the cutest Disney-like presentation I have ever seen. Sea gulls squawking, water rippling, engine noise, back ground music, cute little cartoon fishes swimming the wrong way in the Gulf Stream, tow warps with the wrong angles, gear that had a net geometry that would have been physically impossibe to attain on the planet earth. This other guy who I do not beleive was a netmaker at all, shows up with a 10 minute presentation in what I believe was 3DMAX or close. I showed up with a 10 minute video, roughly made and no editing.but clearly showing the ACTUAL, REAL WORLD proto type net, going into and coming out of the water with the desired target species caught. A good while back i was asked to come to a meeting for some fishery research work. My interest in learning 3D is simple economics. Some of the best of the best don't even design any more, they just sit back and order from over seas. The few remaining netmakers here in the USA struggle between keeping the trade alive or caving in to outsourcing. They buy stuf from whomever and where ever. I have to compete with companies whose websites cost more than my truck. I've learned the hard way that just because you KNOW what you are doing and can deliver.some guy can show up with a really nice presentation and sway the customer his direction. I wasn't exactly looiking for free, just a place for me to start learning about using 3D.
